Tarmac Blues -- Kidnap Airline CEO
Submitted by Dan Coughlin on Tue, 12/22/2009 - 6:25pm
I just read that the U. S. Transporation Department adopted a new two-hour rule for domestic flights delayed at the gate or on the tarmac with captive passengers and nowhere to go.
When the delay reaches two hours passengers must be offered food, water and restroom facilities, the same amenties available to inmates in most federal penitentiaries.
If three hours pass and the plane still hasn't taken off, passengers must be allowed to leave the plane.
Here's My Baseball Hall of Fame Vote

I gave the nod to Roberto Alomar on the first ballot. Some Hall of Fame voters are opposed to first ballot candidates on principle, feeling hardly anyone deserves the honor. I believe that if you're a Hall of Famer, why wait?
A brief observation as the Indians' season quietly ends

We really do have an interest in the playoffs because many old friends will be in action somewhere almost every night next week. Look at the ex-Indians who are ready to punch their post-season tickets. This is not a complete list, just a few highlights. You probably could add a name or two that I overlooked.
There is C. C. Sabathia, 19-7 with the first-place Yankees who have the best record in all of baseball at 100-56, the only 100-game winner in baseball this year. C.C., by the way, leads the league in wins.
Dino Lucarelli Talks About Memorable Characters In His 50 Year Career

Called Dino Lucarelli to wish him good luck in his retirement from the Browns. We go back to the sixties together when he was the PR man for the Barons hockey team. Then he moved to the Indians and then to the Browns, where he's been one of this town's most beloved goodwill ambassadors for the last 35 years.
Tribe Should Pull the Plug on Andy Marte

We've seen enough of Andy Marte. How long will the Indians prolong this agonizing audition? Please, get him out of the lineup.
The Indians released him once already. In spring training they "designated him for assignment." When no other team picked him up, the Indians re-signed him and sent him to Columbus. But this bad penny wound up with the varsity again and has been in the daily lineup for over a month contributing nothing.
